NanoBanana 2 is way faster than the previous version, NanoBanana Pro.

Google claims NanoBanana 2 has much better world understanding, consistency, and prompt adherence.

Existing image models can do simple tasks like colorizing and restoring old photos, removing watermarks, changing camera angles, changing poses, and doing close swapping.

All top image models can already ace simple image editing tests.

NanoBanana 2 can generate a photo of Johnny Depp, Jackie Chan, Taylor Swift, Tom Hanks, The Rock, Michael Jackson, Oprah, Blackpink, Cristiano Ronaldo, Elon Musk, Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Selena Gomez, Will Smith, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Barack Obama, and Ariana taking a group selfie, with all characters present and looking like the actual celebrity.

Both NanoBanana models were able to understand and generate Levi Ackerman, Tanya Forger, Rick and Morty, Gohan, Alonzo, Chica Fujiada, Emmelia, Gojo, Nezuko, Yuji, Kenny, Bart Simpson, and Snow White taking a selfie.

NanoBanana 2 correctly identified and generated Squirtle (07) and Pidgeot (18) in the Pokémon test.

NanoBanana 2 failed to correctly generate "unknown A" (2011) and Cascoon in the Pokémon test, getting two out of 16 wrong.

NanoBanana Pro also failed the Pokémon test, hallucinating a 3x5 grid, repeating Pokémon, adding an extra Grimer, and failing to correctly generate "unknown".

NanoBanana 2 followed the 4x4 grid instruction, while NanoBanana Pro did not.

NanoBanana 2 inserted Waldo in the Where's Waldo image, but he wasn't well hidden, and an extra Waldo clone was present.

NanoBanana 2 correctly identified and generated the mountain chicken frog (Leptodactylus fallax), Panamanian golden frog, and golden Mantella frog, including their endangered status and scientific names.

NanoBanana Pro generated four different frogs for the endangered frog test, including a Panamanian golden frog, a Cycinilla Andes frog (no information available), a midwife toad (image not like real thing), an Alcatraz snouted tree frog (pretty close), and a Hamilton's frog (pretty close).

NanoBanana 2 correctly labeled some parts of an animal cell worksheet (mitochondria, cell membrane, cytoplasm, Golgi apparatus, rough endoplasmic reticulum) but incorrectly labeled the nucleus as nucleolus and vice versa.

NanoBanana Pro's math problem generation also looked handwritten but had more errors, repeating a division and having another incorrect part.
