Turkey has deployed F-16s and additional air defense systems to Northern Cyprus in recent months, partly in response to regional tensions after the Iran conflict.

Cypriot officials stated that aircraft carrying the defense ministers of Greece, France, and the Netherlands experienced interference linked to Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus.
